Guidelines for Obtaining Continuing Professional Education Registered Dietitians & Dietetic TechniciansThe Colorado Dietetic Association (CDA) approves continuing educational programs held within any Colorado State County based on the program presenter's credentials, program content and length. CDA does not approve multi-state programs. One (1) CPE (Continuing Professional Education) hour is given per hour of presentation, interactive discussion, poster review or question/answer time. Steps to Apply for Continuing Education Approval: In the state of Colorado, anyone can use the title of nutritionist, nutrition counselor or nutrition advisor regardless of education and credentials. On the other hand, a registered dietitian and registered dietetic technician are required to meet specific educational and professional standards including continuing education. 1. Submit one signed copy of the Continuing Education Prior Approval Request Form. 2. Submit one copy of the Timed Agenda and Printed Program/Brochure with the following information:

Approved Program Providers: A Certificate of Attendance must be provided to all attendees. The following information must be included on the certificate:
A documented attendance list must be maintained for seven (7) years if Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) needs to verify attendance during a CPE verification audit. Verification of your program's approval will be sent via email contact listed on the Request form, with the following returned for your files:
