2007 Annual Meeting Highlights

Over 200 RDs and DTRs from across the state attended the 2007 CDA Annual Meeting at the Denver Marriott West in Golden, CO. This year's meeting, "Expanding Your Horizons," provided an opportunity to earn continuing education credits, network with friends and colleagues, and learn about new products and services from a wide variety of exhibitors.

We kicked off the meeting on April 12 with a great pre-conference Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) workshop, lead by Martha Tenney, MPH. Everyone was able to learn their own "personality type" and also how to utilize this information in both their professional and personal lives. Our New Member Reception was immediately following the workshop with an opportunity for new and established members to meet and socialize.

On Friday, April 13th, attendees enjoyed a full day of presentations on a broad scope of nutrition topics. The day kicked off with Ruth DeBusk, talking about nutrigenomics and the role of registered dietitians in this exciting new arena. Two breakout sessions followed with Mark Messina, giving us the latest information on soy and isoflavones and Colleen Gill, sharing information on detoxification with practical applications for dietitians. Next up was two more breakout sessions, Lara Merriken of LARABAR talked about discovering and living your passion and Brent Flickinger and Mary Lee Chin informed everyone about the "New Generation of Fats". Our afternoon began with breakout sessions, including Bryan Vartabedian, talking about probiotics and Mary Kaye Sawyer-Morse teaching us about health coaching. We ended our informative day with Amanda Archibald shedding some light on food choices in America. Attendees also had the opportunity to visit with over 25 exhibitors and enjoyed receiving updated information about their services and sampling new products.
