An RD is an expert in food and nutrition who:

  • has completed an internship or professional experience
  • has passed a national registration exam
  • participates in continuing education

What is a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)?

  • has completed a minimum of a two-year dietetic technician program
  • has passed a national registration exam
  • participates in continuing education

RDs and DTRs work in:

  • hospitals and health care facilities
